What happens when your body forces you to slow down? In this episode of Living in the Spirit, I reflect on a recent bout with the flu that left me in bed for several days with weakness, dizziness, nausea, and coughing. That experience became a powerful reminder that without our health, our ability to live fully and fulfill our purpose is greatly impacted.
This conversation explores why caring for our bodies is a spiritual responsibility. Scripture teaches that our bodies are the temple of God’s Spirit, and honoring that temple means making choices that support our well-being—eating well, exercising, resting, and letting go of unhealthy habits. God desires that we prosper and be in good health, even as our souls prosper.
Join me as we talk about living life to the fullest by valuing the gift of health and truly living in the Spirit.

In this powerful and prophetic final episode of Living in the Spirit, we close out Black History Month by diving deep into the identity and calling found in First Epistle of Peter 2:9 — “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people.”
This episode takes you on a Spirit-led journey through our past, our present, and our future:
Where We’ve Been – Reflecting on the faith, resilience, and spiritual strength of our ancestors who endured slavery, oppression, and injustice, yet remained anchored in God. Honoring voices like Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, and Sojourner Truth who walked in divine purpose.
Where We Are Now – Examining the current state of our communities and the continued call to live as a “royal priesthood,” standing for justice, truth, and spiritual integrity in today’s world, inspired by leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and Fannie Lou Hamer.
The Future We Must Create – Casting vision for a “blessed history” we are called to build—through faith, action, unity, and purpose. This is a charge to not just remember history, but to actively shape it.
This episode is more than a reflection—it’s a call to action. You are chosen. You are called. And the story is still being written.
Listen, be inspired, and step boldly into your purpose.

In this powerful episode of Living in the Spirit, we explore the sacred connection between Black History and the Black Church - and why memory itself is spiritual work.
From hush harbors during slavery to the Civil Rights Movement, the Black Church has been more than a place of worship. It has been a keeper of memory, a preserver of truth, and a prophetic voice in America.
As public debates continue around the removal and restoration of monuments honoring Black leaders and civil rights history, this episode asks a deeper question:
Who gets remembered - and why does it matter?
We discuss:
The Black church as a living monument
The spiritual danger of historical erasure
The prophetic role of the church in times of political tension
How to respond in faith when history is contested
What it truly means to live in the Spirit while protecting legacy
This episode is not about partianship - its about truth, dignity, and spiritual responsibility.
If you believe faith and justice belong in the same conversation, this episode is for you.
Listen. Reflect. Share
Because memory is sacred - and the story must be told.

For generations, the biblical story has been told through a narrow lens—one that often stripped Scripture of its original context, culture, and liberating power. This series is an invitation to pause, question, and reclaim what was never meant to be erased.
During Black History Month, Living in the Spirit presents a four-part podcast series titled:
“The Whitewashing of the Biblical Story.”
This is not about abandoning faith. This is about telling the truth about it.
Together, we will explore how empire, colonization, and power reshaped how the Bible was taught—and how those distortions continue to impact theology, culture, immigration conversations, and the rise of Christian Nationalism today.
We will center:
The historical Jesus, not the sanitized one
Africa’s presence in Scripture
The difference between the gospel of liberation and the gospel of empire
And what it means to follow Jesus faithfully in this moment
This series is for anyone who loves God but has questions. For those who were taught the Bible but not its context. For those who sense that the story is bigger, deeper, and more inclusive than they were told.
This is sacred unlearning. This is holy remembering. This is Living in the Spirit.

In this compelling episode of Living in the Spirit, Apostle Sharyn Cosby challenges the Church to move beyond celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. into living out his unfinished work. While parades, worship services, and tributes abound, this message confronts a sobering truth: remembrance without justice is nostalgia, not honor. Grounded in Scripture and spoken with apostolic authority, the episode names present-day injustices in America and calls proclaimers of the gospel to courageous, Spirit-led action. Echoing the words of John Lewis—“If not now, then when? If not you, then who?”—this episode is a summons to faithfulness, not comfort.
